What is My Note Page?

My Note Page is a minimalist note-taking app designed for immediate capture, personal thinking, and everyday notes – with a personal timeline to revisit memories and recall what you wrote. It's private, secure, and forever free. Jot down unlimited notes instantly with no sign-up, no sync, no cloud, no AI, no ads. Your notes are stored only on your device and never leave your browser.

When should I use My Note Page, and when should I not?

My Note Page is designed for immediate capture, personal thinking, and everyday notes. Use it to jot down fleeting thoughts before they disappear, as a scratchpad in your daily workflow, to draft text before pasting it elsewhere, or simply to remember what you were thinking at a specific moment. It focuses on simplicity, speed, and full ownership rather than complex long-term archival systems or heavy note management. Use it when you want to write instantly, without setup, sync, or distraction. If less friction means more writing for you, My Note Page was built for that.

My Note Page is not ideal for passwords or financial records, collaborative work requiring real-time team editing, or critical data that must persist across devices without manual backup. For those needs, consider dedicated password managers, collaboration tools, or cloud-based note apps with automatic sync.

Can I use My Note Page for journaling?

Yes. Many users find My Note Page perfect for daily journaling. The minimalist interface removes distractions, offline access means you can write anywhere, and local-only storage ensures your private thoughts and memories stay truly private. Use hashtags like #journal or #reflection to organize entries, or browse your personal timeline by date, month, or year to revisit specific days, recall past moments, and reflect on personal memories.

Can I use My Note Page for task management or to-do lists?

Yes. While My Note Page doesn't have built-in task features like checkboxes, you can use it for simple task lists and workflow notes. Many users add hashtags like #todo, #urgent, or #work to organize tasks, then view Recent Hashtags to see all tasks at once. For complex project management with dependencies and deadlines, dedicated task apps may be better.

Is My Note Page free?

Yes, My Note Page is completely free. No hidden fees, no registration required, no ads, no usage limits. Jot down unlimited notes and use all features forever free.

Why is "Forever Free" guaranteed?

My Note Page stores your notes locally using IndexedDB, not on our servers. We have zero infrastructure costs – no servers to pay for, no databases to maintain, no cloud bills. "Forever Free" is a technical guarantee, not a marketing promise. We couldn't add paywalls even if we wanted to. Your notes are already on your device, under your control, forever.

Will My Note Page exist long-term?

My Note Page was built for quiet continuity rather than rapid growth. It has no ads, no external investors, and no dependency on storing user data on our servers, which keeps its structure intentionally simple and sustainable. The intention is to maintain it as a lasting public utility – a quiet tool that simply works. Like any free web tool provided "as is", we cannot offer legal guarantees of permanent availability. Because your notes live only on your device, exporting them regularly is the most reliable way to remain fully in control of your words.

Why is My Note Page so minimal? Why doesn't it have folders, formatting, or more features?

My Note Page is minimal by conviction, not by limitation. Most note-taking apps are built on one assumption: notes are documents, and documents need to be managed. So they give you folders, sidebars, tags, metadata, and workspaces. Before you write anything, you are already inside a system.

My Note Page begins from a different assumption: notes are moments, and moments only need to be captured. There is no sidebar, no folder tree, no rich formatting toolbar – because none of that belongs to the act of capturing a thought. Organization still happens, but passively: hashtags live inside the sentence, dates automatically anchor each note in time, and the timeline becomes the structure – not because you built it, but because you wrote. This is not a simplified version of a feature-rich app. It is a different idea of what a note is.

Is My Note Page fast?

Yes. Everything in My Note Page happens instantly because everything happens locally. Writing, editing, searching, and browsing your timeline all run directly in your browser – no network request, no server round-trip, no waiting. Search results appear as you type because your notes are already in memory. Every feature opens instantly because there is nothing to fetch. This is a natural consequence of local-first architecture, not a performance optimization. When there is no server involved, there is nothing to slow things down. The speed you feel is the speed of your own device.

How do I add a new note?

Type your note in the text area at the top of the page, then select "Add Note" or press Ctrl+Enter (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Enter (Mac). Your note is saved instantly. Notes up to 50,000 characters (approximately several thousand words) are supported to maintain optimal browser performance. This is sufficient for detailed notes, journal entries, article drafts, or long text you want to jot down and remember. My Note Page does not autosave. Content in the text area is not saved until you select "Add Note" or press Ctrl+Enter / Cmd+Enter.

Can I use voice input to create notes?

Yes. On mobile, tap the microphone icon on your keyboard to dictate your note. On desktop, use your OS dictation feature. My Note Page receives text from any input method – voice input works naturally without any additional setup.

Can I edit a note after creating it?

Yes. Select "Edit" on any note to modify its content, then select "Save" or press Ctrl+Enter (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Enter (Mac) to update. The timestamp shown on each note reflects when it was originally created, not when it was last edited – preserving the original memory of when that thought first appeared. My Note Page does not autosave while editing. Your changes are not saved until you select "Save" or press Ctrl+Enter / Cmd+Enter.

Note that adding a new note, starting a new edit, deleting, pinning, unpinning, restoring a note, or downloading your notes will discard your unsaved changes. Save your edits before performing any of these actions. Opening Search Notes, Recent Dates, Recent Months, Recent Years, Recent Hashtags, Statistics, or Trash does not discard your edits – you can browse and copy from other notes while editing.

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

Yes, when using a computer. Press Ctrl+Enter (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Enter (Mac) to save a new note or save edits while editing a note. Press Esc to close any open panel or cancel editing a note. Press / for Search Notes, D for Recent Dates, M for Recent Months, Y for Recent Years, H for Recent Hashtags, S for Statistics, T for Trash, or ? to view all keyboard shortcuts. These single-key shortcuts only work when you are not typing and no panel is open.

Can I pin notes?

Yes. You can pin notes to keep them at the top of the list – useful for scratchpad content, important reminders, or anything you want to remember and access quickly. Pinned notes remain on your device and are stored locally, just like all other notes.

Why does each note have a Copy button?

The Copy button lets you instantly copy any note's full content with one tap, making it easy to paste into emails, documents, chats, or other apps. My Note Page works naturally as a scratchpad and text staging area – a place to capture, jot down, and hold fleeting thoughts or long text before moving them elsewhere. This reflects the app's philosophy: notes are moments meant to be captured, used, and carried forward.

How do hashtags work in My Note Page?

Hashtags let you organize related notes by adding tags like #idea, #journal, or #todo directly in your note text – the same natural way you use hashtags in social media. Select any hashtag to recall all notes containing it. View Recent Hashtags to quickly find and filter tagged notes across your entire collection. All hashtag detection happens locally in your browser – they are not indexed, tracked, or sent anywhere.

Can I browse my notes by date, month, or year?

Yes. You can browse your personal memory timeline by date, month, or year. Open Recent Dates to recall notes from specific days, Recent Months to view notes by month, or Recent Years to explore notes from past years. This helps you remember what you wrote based on when you wrote it – the way human memory actually works, by time and context rather than by folder or file name. All timeline browsing happens locally in your browser.

How do I search my notes?

Open Search Notes on the main page or press / (forward slash) to open the search feature. Start typing to instantly search through all your note content and display results in real-time as you type. Search is case-insensitive (searching "TODO" or "todo" gives the same results) and happens entirely in your browser – nothing is sent to any server. Notes in Trash are not included in search results. You can also browse by hashtags, or by date, month, or year to recall notes from specific time periods.

How do I view statistics about my notes?

Open Statistics on the main page to see information about your notes, including active notes, active days, pinned notes, notes in Trash, and your oldest and newest note dates. Active Days shows how many days you've written at least one note – a meaningful reflection of your writing habit and personal memory over time. All statistics are calculated locally in your browser.

Can I change the theme or appearance?

Yes. My Note Page offers light, dark, and system themes. System theme automatically matches your device's appearance settings.

Can I backup or export my notes?

Yes. Select Download All Notes to export all your active notes as a plain text file. The file will be automatically named based on how many notes you have and today's date (for example: mynote.page_365-notes_2026-12-31.txt). The backup contains all your note content with timestamps in a structured format that's both human-readable and can be imported back later. Notes in Trash are not included in the backup. We strongly recommend backing up regularly to protect your memories, especially before clearing browser data.

Currently, My Note Page exports notes as a .txt file. This creates a simple plain text file with all your notes and timestamps that you can open in any text editor, search through, or import back into My Note Page.

How do I import notes from a backup file?

Visit the Import Notes page, select your previously downloaded .txt backup file, and select "Import Notes". My Note Page automatically checks for duplicates based on timestamps and only adds unique notes to your device. Your existing notes will not be overwritten. Pinned status is preserved during import. You can import unlimited notes as long as your browser has available storage.

Where are my notes stored?

Your notes are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB technology. They never leave your device and are never uploaded to any server or cloud. Only you can see your notes, and only when using the same browser where you created them. Your memories stay on your device – no one else can access them.

Will my notes be safe when My Note Page updates?

Yes. App updates only change the interface or add features – they never touch your stored notes. The data structure has been designed correctly from day one and has remained unchanged since launch. Your notes are stored the same way today as they were on day one. Updates make the app better. They leave your data untouched.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. My Note Page never collects personal data, never tracks your activity, and never shows ads. All notes are stored locally in your browser and never uploaded anywhere. We can't see, access, or restore your notes. Privacy isn't a promise – it's how the app works.

Does My Note Page use cookies or tracking?

No. My Note Page does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any scripts that monitor your personal activity. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for anonymous page view counting only – no cookies, no personal data, no individual user tracking. The only data stored is your notes, which stay in your browser's IndexedDB. You can verify this anytime using your browser's developer tools or network inspector.

Can other people see my notes?

No, unless they have physical access to your device and browser. Notes are stored locally and visible only to you. However, anyone with access to your unlocked device can read your notes. Please use device-level protections like screen locks, passcodes, or OS/browser profiles.

Can I use My Note Page for temporary drafts without saving them?

Yes. Open My Note Page in an incognito/private browsing window (Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome/Edge, Cmd+Shift+N in Safari, or Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox). Any notes you create will work normally while the window is open, but will be automatically deleted when you close the incognito window. This is perfect for sensitive drafts, temporary scratchpad use, fleeting thoughts you don't want to keep, or brainstorming sessions you want to discard. Your notes in regular browser windows remain unaffected.

Can I sync my notes across different devices?

No. My Note Page is designed to be simple and private. Notes are stored only locally in your browser on each device. They never leave your device or sync to any cloud. This ensures complete privacy but means notes stay on the device where you created them. For multi-device access, use Download All Notes to export a backup file and Import Notes on another device.

Does My Note Page work across multiple tabs in the same browser?

Yes. If you have My Note Page open in multiple tabs, any changes you make – adding, editing, deleting, pinning, unpinning, restoring, or permanently deleting notes, emptying trash, clearing all notes, importing notes, or switching themes – will automatically refresh the other tabs so they stay up to date. This sync happens locally within the same browser on the same device – no data is sent to any server or cloud. You may notice a tab briefly reloading; this is normal and intentional behavior to keep all tabs in sync. If you have an unsaved note in progress in another tab, it will be lost when that tab reloads.

Does My Note Page work offline?

Yes. After loading once at mynote.page, the app works completely offline thanks to Service Worker technology. You can jot down and access your notes anytime, even without internet. After your first visit, no internet connection is required. The Service Worker caches static files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts) locally but does not access, read, or transmit your notes.

Can I install My Note Page as an app on my device?

Yes. My Note Page is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works like a native app. On mobile, tap "Add to Home Screen" in your browser menu. On desktop, look for the install icon in your address bar. Once installed, it launches instantly and works completely offline. Installation is optional and does not change how your notes are stored or affect privacy.

Are there any limits on how many notes I can create?

No, there are no limits on the number of notes you can create. You can jot down unlimited notes as long as your browser's storage has available space (typically several hundred MB to a few GB depending on your device).

What happens to deleted notes?

Deleted notes move to Trash for up to 7 days before permanent deletion. During this time, you can restore them if you remember something you want to keep. After 7 days or if you empty Trash manually, notes are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. We do not keep backups.

Can Safari on iPhone, iPad, or Mac delete my notes automatically?

Yes, this is a known Safari limitation. Safari on iPhone, iPad, and Mac may automatically clear locally stored data – including your notes – after a period of inactivity (often around 7 days) due to its Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP) privacy feature. This behavior is controlled by Safari, not by My Note Page.

To protect your notes from this, install My Note Page to your Home Screen by tapping the Share button and selecting "Add to Home Screen". Home Screen apps are exempt from this Safari limitation and your notes will persist as long as you keep the app installed. If you use Safari without installing to Home Screen, we recommend opening the app at least once a week, or regularly using Download All Notes as a backup.

Can I permanently delete all my notes?

Yes. My Note Page gives you complete control over your data. You can permanently clear all notes anytime using the Clear All Notes feature. This deletes everything, including notes in Trash, instantly with no recovery possible. Always download a backup first if you want to keep any notes. This feature reflects our commitment to user privacy and data ownership – you're never locked into the app.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

Your notes will be permanently lost if you clear your browser data or cookies. Always download a backup first using Download All Notes to save your notes as a .txt file on your device.

What browsers are supported?

My Note Page works on all modern web browsers including Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. For best experience, use the latest version of your browser.

Can I use My Note Page on multiple browsers?

Yes, but notes don't sync between browsers. Each browser stores its own set of notes locally. Notes created in Chrome won't appear in Edge or Safari. Use the download and import features to manually transfer notes between browsers if needed.

Who created My Note Page?

My Note Page was created by Lâm Thái Sơn with a simple belief: writing should feel instant, quiet, and private by default. Writing here isn't about managing thoughts, but giving them a place to appear.
